Q: Can we get you to pay us a visit without obligation?
A: Yes, of course. Just contact us.

Q: Isn’t a full count more secure? I really want to know what
I have in stock.
A: If several thousand items must be counted, according to our experience,
many errors slip in during counting and transmission. For lack of
time, it's impossible to do a check and correction. These errors
are then entered into the books. The procedures allowed by the authorities
and implemented in our products ensure that random sample inventory
is at least as exact as a full inventory.

Q: What do I need to implement random sample inventory?
A: Stock of at least 1000 items, IT-supported stock management,
and certified software for the random sample inventory. To learn
more, see prerequisites.

Q: Does the software use the latest technology?
A: Yes, the Stat Control systems are updated and improved regularly.
They are real Windows applications that run on Win2000 and XP.
* * *
Q: Are Stat Control GmbH’s systems recognized by auditors
and the tax office?
A: Yes, because all Stat Control systems are subjected to a very
detailed inspection by well-known auditing companies and they are
all certified.
* * *
Q: In which programming language are the systems developed?
A: For reasons of compatibility with Windows systems, the programs
are written in Visual C++.

Q: What interfaces do STASAM and STASEQ have?
A: By default, ASCII interfaces, which permit problem-free data
exchange with all existing ERP and merchandise management systems.
For some systems, such as those by ABS or SSA / BaaN, there are
also direct interfaces. Essentially it is possible to implement
a direct interface for any system.

Q: How long do installation and training take?
A: As a rule, only one day.

Q: What’s the difference between STASAM and STASEQ?
A: STASAM is a random sample procedure that calculates the number
of items to be counted using the item values (quantity * price).
After counting the randomly-selected items, a value-based extrapolation
is conducted across the entire stock value and compared with the
stock book value.
STASEQ requires higher inventory security than STASAM. With STASEQ,
30 items are selected randomly and compared with the counted quantities.
If no deviation is found, inventory is then complete (yes/no decision
without considering the value).
* * *
Q: How much counting effort is required with STASAM or STASEQ?
A: With STASAM, approx. 3-10% of the population (incl. the 50% stock
value as complete inventory count desired by the auditors) must
be counted; however, this depends on the structure of the stock.
With STASEQ, in 99% of the cases, the goal is accomplished with
30 items counted.

Q: Do items without inventory have to be considered in the total?
A: In principle yes, since there must also be sporadic proof that
these items are without inventory. However, items without inventory
that had no access or no transactions in the current fiscal year
do not have to be considered in the total.

Q: What estimation methods are used in STASAM?
A: STASAM uses all permissible estimation methods: free average
estimation, difference estimation, relational estimation, and regression
estimation. Calculation is carried out with the help of a certified
algorithm that determines which of these estimation methods is the
best and most secure method for the inventory.

Q: How should the ABC analysis be conducted?
A: Not at all. The division into value classes (value-based ABC
analysis) and value layers is handled automatically by STASAM. The
user doesn’t have to worry about this.
* * *
Q: Does STASAM / STASEQ also create counting documents (original
documents)?
A: Yes, all of them. The design corresponds precisely to the auditor’s
requirements.

Q: We would like to know whether there are other users in our industry.
Do you provide references?
A: We have customers in nearly all industries with different stock
organizations. We will gladly provide you with references and make
contact for you.
